Giuseppe Murru, a 49-year-old former security guard from Muravera, was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison for vehicular homicide. He was convicted of the tragic accident that occurred on the night of May 30, 2024, which resulted in the death of Simone Pisu, 30, a worker from Muravera. The house arrest order was executed this morning.

Murru, riding a high-powered motorcycle on the former SS 125 toward Muravera, lost control while speeding around a curve. The vehicle slid for several meters, struck a road sign, and ended up in an adjacent field. His friend Simone Pisu, a thirty-year-old local worker, was also on board. Unfortunately, despite prompt assistance from 118, he lost his life .

The investigation immediately launched by the Carabinieri of the San Vito Company's Mobile Radio Unit, supported by technical findings and toxicology tests, confirmed that Murru was driving under the influence of alcohol, with a blood alcohol level of 2.08 g/l . Following the investigation, he was charged with aggravated vehicular homicide. The Carabinieri of the Muravera station also revoked his gun license as a precautionary measure and seized legally held weapons and ammunition.
