He strangled Gabriele Pergola, but he didn't know he had killed him . This is the confession of 19-year-old Gabriele Cabras before the investigating judge: during the interrogation, he provided his version of the facts by speaking lucidly, after the shock on Monday, when the police had found him almost unconscious.

According to the reconstruction carried out by Cabras in front of the judge, he and Pergola knew each other. In the bar owned by the victim, they would have agreed to consume drugs . The young man, in fact, admitted to using it for recreational purposes. Precisely from the club they would have reached the victim's home in Quartu with Pergola's scooter. The forty-three-year-old would have booked the Quartucciu bed and breakfast through Booking, where they would have gone by taxi with the intention of using drugs.

According to Cabras' story, in the b&b they would have used cocaine and crack for hours , remaining in shorts due to the heat. In this context, in a state of psychic alteration, Pergola would have attacked the young man: according to the confession, the dispute would have arisen from a refusal after some sexual advances . Cabras says he reacted violently, grabbing a towel and putting it around his neck: Gabriele Pergola would have managed to free himself, threatening the 19-year-old. He would have promised to make him pay, calling some acquaintances and spreading rumors about him .

It would have been precisely this perspective that infuriated Cabras, who explained that he had strangled Pergola until he lost consciousness. According to what was said before the investigating judge, in fact, the boy would not have understood that he had killed the man, believing instead that he had passed out . Precisely for this reason, he would have walked away from the bed and breakfast with the forty-three-year-old's purse: not for the money contained inside, but to deprive him of the availability of his cell phone , with which he could have called friends and carried out the threat.

In the meantime, the arrest of Gabriele Cabras has been validated and pre-trial detention in prison has been confirmed. His lawyer, Giovanni Cabras, is studying the defensive strategy, which can be perfected once the results of the autopsy and toxicological tests have arrived, also in consideration of the collaboration given by his client in order to clarify the matter.
