They are under house arrest (after the hearing before the Tempio Magistrate's Court) on charges of breaking into the car of four American tourists in San Pantaleo: the value of the loot is said to exceed 10,000 euros.

The three Italian nomads arrested by the Porto Rotondo Carabinieri had stolen goods (electronic devices and other valuables), all of which were returned to the victims of the September 24th theft. But the Carabinieri's investigation is only just beginning.

The arrested individuals, three very young brothers, live in Olbia and had been under surveillance since last April. The Tempio Prosecutor's Office is awaiting the results of the Carabinieri investigation to draw conclusions from months of work. It is believed hundreds of robberies targeted tourists in all the major towns of coastal Gallura.

In the vast majority of cases, the victims were on the beach or had just arrived in Olbia or were departing from the Gallura city. Suitcases and valuables were stolen from the broken-in vehicles. The thieves always disposed of clothing and other items, including trolleys and bags, throwing them into the open countryside. In some cases, some of the stolen items were left in the streets near the Basilica of San Simplicio in Olbia or in the streets adjacent to the church. The judicial police are examining the evidence against the three suspects regarding numerous incidents that occurred this summer.
