Guaranteeing the operation of a tourist medical guard 24 hours a day in Costa Rei for the summer of 2023. This is the request of the mayor of Muravera , Salvatore Piu, in his capacity as health manager of the Union of Sarrabus Municipalities.

The mayor wrote to the general director of ASL 8, Marcello Tidore, to the regional councilor for health, Carlo Doria, to the general director Ares for emergency-urgency, Annamaria Tomasella, and to the head of the Sarrabus-Gerrei health district , Massimo Carboni to request the operation of the service also for Muravera, Villasimius, Castiadas, San Pietro and Villaputzu.

«In these localities - he explained - figures of daily presences exceeding one hundred thousand inhabitants are reached . There is no shortage of offices for medical guards and they are already equipped for the start of a fundamental activity for a tourist area like ours».

In April, the local health authority of Cagliari published a call for tenders for the search for doctors to be assigned precisely to the tourist medical service. But the fears that, like last year, important locations such as Costa Rei may remain without this service.

« In the summer of 2022 - underlined Roberta Laconi, municipal councilor of Muravera with responsibility for Health - Costa Rei remained without a tourist medical guard despite the fact that its operation was assured . We hope not to have to relive last year's experience and to be able to give the many vacationers who choose Costa Rei for their holidays the certainty of being able to use it. The premises in via Ichnusa are ready to host healthcare personnel ».
