Muravera, over 100 groups for the Citrus Festival this Sunday

A long procession of folk groups, traditional floats, and identity representations will pass through Muravera on Sunday, April 19th for the 52nd edition of the Citrus Festival, with the parade confirming itself as the central moment of the event , capable of attracting participants from all over the island and thousands of visitors.
The parade will open with the band of the "Giuseppe Verdi" Musical Association of Muravera, directed by Roberto Orrù, followed by the city banner and the Muravera Folk Group, accompanied by Luca Secci's accordion. Immediately after, the traccas of Settimo San Pietro will take center stage, along with the Parcu Culturali Cantadoris association, and the "Mureresusu de oriseru e de oi" group from Muravera, playing launeddas and accordion.
The first part of the procession will feature the "Santa Vitalia" Folk Group from Ballao, the "San Giovanni Battista" Folk Group from Bari Sardo, the "San Michele Arcangelo" Folk Group from Bono, then Villaputzu with the Sonus Insulae Cultural Association and the re-enactment of "Su pottammentu de sa doda de sa sposa." Also present will be the "A passu antigu" Folk Group from Burcei, the Gli Scalzi Folk Group from Cabras, and the Boes e Merdules from Ottana. They will be followed by the "Città di Cagliari" Folk Group (Villanova district), the San Giovanni Battista Folk Group from Castiadas, and the etnotraccas from Muravera of the Sa Bertula association dedicated to "Sa pasta frisca."
The parade will continue with the Merisi and Massaiussu San Sebastiano Folk Group from Escalaplano, the Sant'Elena Folk Group from Gairo, the "Città di Oristano" Drummers and Trumpeters, and the Città di Oristano Folk Group with "Su ballu 'e Sa Sartiglia," followed by the Is Meurreddus Folk Group from Iglesias, the Franciscu Lai Folk Group from Laconi, the Tradizioni Popolari Folk Group from Lotzorai, and the Villaputzu etnotraccas of the San Giorgio Martire association dedicated to the miner's life. Also present will be the "Santa Barbara" Folk Group from Macomer, the "Sant'Antonio" Folk Group from Maracalagonis, the Cuncordia Cultural Association in Launeddas, the "Saludos" Folk Group from Nuoro, the Battor Moros Folk Group from Oliena, the Santa Sabina Folk Group from Pattada, and the Mamuthones and Issohadores from Mamoiada.
The central part of the procession will feature the Su Beranu Folk Group from Quartucciu, the Su Pottabi Folk Group from Samassi, the Tradizioni Popolari Folk Group from San Vito, and the ethnotraccas of the ASD Cavalieri San Vito Martire dedicated to “Sa Pratzira de Santu Idu,” followed by the Santa Barbara Folk Group from San Vito, the Monte Gonare Folk Group from Sarule, the San Nicola Folk Group from Sassari, the Mamutzones from Samugheo, the Santa Vitalia Folk Group from Serrenti, the Cuccuru e Janas Folk Group from Siniscola, the Siurgus Donigala Folk Group, and the ethnotraccas “Is Piccioccus de Murera,” dedicated to the work along the river.
The parade will continue with the Sant'Anna Folk Group from Tortolì, the Santa Sofia Folk Group from Tertenia, the Pro Loco Folk Group from Urzulei, "Le Fruste del Campidano" from Monserrato, the Pro Loco Folk Group from Uta, the Pro Loco Folk Group from Villaputzu, and the etnotraccas from Muravera of the Sa Bertula association dedicated to "Su maistu de linna." Also present will be the Santa Rughe Folk Group from Uri, the San Gabriele Folk Group from Villagrande Strisaili, the "Biddobrana" Cultural Association of Popular Traditions from Villaurbana, and the San Giorgio Martire Folk Group from Villaputzu.
The final part will feature the etnotraccas of Villaputzu dedicated to the processing of dough, the San Cristoforo Folk Group of Villasalto, the Crabonaxa Folk Group of Villasimius, the performance of “Sa cumpangia de is molentis,” with donkeys and performers from various towns on the island, and the concluding etnotraccas of Muravera dedicated to “Sa festa de s'arangiu.”
Closing the parade will be groups of horsemen and women from Castiadas (Il Falco Equestrian Center), Dolianova (ASD Pony Club), Escalaplano (Scal'e Oru Equestrian Association), Muravera (I Carrubi Equestrian Center, Iba Sa Cresia Equestrian Center, and a spontaneous group with Mauro Mocco), Orroli (Arrollesa Cavalry Association), San Vito (ASD Cavalieri San Vito Martire), Selargius (Su Pezzu Mannu Knights Association), Settimo San Pietro (Cantadoris Cultural Park), Villaputzu (Sarrabus Equestrian Club), and Villasalto (Villasalto Amateur Knights).
Founded in the 1960s to promote the citrus fruit production of Sarrabus, the Citrus Festival has become one of Sardinia's most important identity events.
