A 14-metre fishing boat, the Nibbio di Cagliari, sank two miles off the coast off Capo Ferrato , in the stretch of sea between Castiadas and Muravera.

On board two fishermen, who used a life raft to save themselves. Recovered by the Coast Guard they are fine.

According to initial information , the vessel began to take on water due to a mechanical problem . When the fishermen realized the situation it was already late.

In the meantime, the Cp 307 patrol boats of the Harbor Master's Office and the fire brigade have arrived. The Coast Guard rescued the two sailors and transported them to the port of Cagliari while the fire brigade checked that there were no oil spills at sea . The fishing vessel sank in an area where the depth reaches 70 metres.

The two fishermen will be heard by the Coast Guard who are trying to reconstruct the accident. Inspections will be carried out in the area and operations for any recovery will begin.
