The first day of prayer in Cagliari by the Greek-Catholic community was opened by a moving song by Ukrainian women in the parish of San Demetrio Martire in the church of Santa Restituta. Blue bows and flags were displayed on the altar and between the pews as a sign of closeness to the people besieged by the war.
"We are all worried about our loved ones and our families who are in our homeland where missiles rain down - said in the homily Father Vasyl Panivnyk, parish priest of St. Demetrius - In such a difficult moment, our community finds itself united in prayer for peace. In fraternal communion with the Church of Cagliari and with Archbishop Giuseppe Baturi and grateful for the welcome and solidarity shown so far towards us by the same Church and the city of Cagliari, we invite all men and women women of good will to join us to pray for the victims and for all those who are suffering from the war, so that it ends as soon as possible ".
