An underground car park with more than 50 parking spaces to be built under two tennis courts . With the entrance on via Pietro Leo, the road that leads to the city park of Monte Urpinu, in Cagliari. This is the heart of the project envisaged by the municipal administration of Cagliari "as part of the maxi-works to redo the tennis club (4 and a half million euros)". Giulia Andreozzi , municipal councilor of the Possibile group , writes it on her Facebook page.

«On the right is one of the entrances to the primary school in via Garavetti, on the left a brand new kindergarten is about to be built. Entrance to a park, 400 children aged 6-10 on the right, about seventy kindergarten children on the left. Would you like this road to be even greener and perhaps pedestrian? Forget it!», thunders Andreozzi from her profile. The construction of the parking spaces «will also mean that several trees (certainly a row of cypresses) will be cut down to make way for the entrance to the parking lot. As if this weren't enough, one of the design solutions (the simplest and most welcome one) envisages that one of the school's outdoor sports fields be sacrificed for the construction of the ramp. Then imagine, during the works, which will certainly not be short, the inconvenience for the boys and girls of the school of attending school right next to such a building site», continues the councilor.

«The world is moving towards school, pedestrian and green streets, and Cagliari is cutting down trees and letting us pass hundreds of cars a day looking for a parking space. The world is moving towards outdoor school activities and Cagliari speculates about removing a sports field from a school . With the important redevelopment interventions planned for the two schools that have the honor of facing one of the most important green lungs of the city, we would have imagined that the municipality of Cagliari would take advantage of the opportunity to eliminate the (few) cars passing through the street Leo, redeveloping the street as a totally pedestrian school road: on the contrary, he proposes to bring private vehicles (in defiance of sustainable mobility) right into the bowels of the park and between the two school courtyards », explains the exponent of the opposition.

"It's a bad decision . I am submitting a question to the Mayor and the council , to find out what the rationale for this decision is, if the impact on the mobility of the area has been assessed, if via Pietro Leo is an adequate road (also in terms of width of the roadway) to provide for the entrance to an underground car park, if the aspects related to the safety of boys and girls who frequent the area have been evaluated, if other solutions are not conceivable which envisage moving the car park envisaged by the project to a neighboring road as well". concludes Andreozzi on Facebook.
