Beautiful and abandoned. Born by law in 1999, the Molentargius park is always (almost) the same after 23 years. It never took off. The mayor of Quartu Graziano Milia, who is part of the management committee of the institution, is now fed up. He does not rule out leaving the Board of Directors.

Because "the suffering of the oasis is there for all to see and it is unthinkable to go on for so long", he attacks, "a change is needed, capable of securing an asset of inestimable value and enhancing its enormous potential on the plan. environmental, scientific, economic and tourism, a real strategic resource for our communities ".

The mayor's lunge follows the controversy triggered by his deputy, Tore Sanna, and by the president Stefano Secci (of Quartese emanation). Which for Milia did well "to underline the operational paralysis in which the park is today, with a timely report of the difficulties".

For Milia, the one who stands still is the Region: “We need a strengthening of the administrative, technical and scientific staff” , he explains.

On duty there are "only two geologists doing what they can". In addition, for the mayor of Quartu it is also necessary "a full-time management in the offices, able to put his heart and legs on the strategic development projects that have been standing still for 30 years". The current administrative top, Claudio Papoff, is also manager of the municipality of Cagliari.

Milia also changes the overall perspective: he is convinced that it is necessary to "immediately adjust the rules to adapt them to the current needs of the park, which must be considered not as a foreign body to the surrounding context, but as the central pivot of the administrative policies of the territory " .

The Municipality of Quartu, he assures, will be at the forefront of the park.
