A cornice collapsed this morning in Mandas from the former Carabinieri barracks building overlooking Via Cagliari, the town's main street. Firefighters, alerted by the municipality, responded immediately to the scene to secure the area.

Mayor Umberto Oppus announced the incident, also notifying the arrival of the Carabinieri and an Anas team. The city administration is represented on site by Councilor Walter Uccheddu, municipal technician Nicola Zedda, staff manager Mirko Zedda, and municipal police officer Pierpaolo Salaris.

Fortunately, no injuries or property damage was reported. The road was temporarily closed to traffic, resulting in traffic disruption. The mayor announced that tomorrow he will contact the Region, Prefecture, and Civil Protection to address the problem of unsafe private buildings and protect public safety.
