The project is well advanced. Thanks to regional funding worth 4.8 million euros, we will soon proceed with the recovery, redevelopment and reconversion of the stations, roadman and railway toll booths of the tourist railway line between Macomer and Bosa, one of the first narrow-gauge railways built in Sardinia.

Macomer is the lead municipality of that project. A total of eight municipalities belong to it, including, in addition to Macomer, Sindia, Suni, Tinnura, Flussio, Magomadas, Tresnuraghe and Bosa.

As mentioned, action will be taken to redevelop areas of landscape and tourist interest. There are 32 buildings, all dating back to 1888.

With the recovery project, which sees the regional public works departments and local authorities together with the Municipalities, in addition to the Arst, the ancient structures will be affected by restyling interventions, to be transformed into inns, restaurants, post stations, points of sale of characteristic local products, bookshop, artistic exhibition and cultural and naturalistic protection centres.

«The goal is to create a real development that enhances what we have - says the deputy mayor Rossana Ledda - and the project is well advanced, even if some assets are still missing, as the Municipalities concerned are discussing extraordinary maintenance, such as was requested by the Region and by the Arst. A project oriented towards slow and strongly alternative tourism». Mayor Antonio Succu adds: «A project that unites two complementary territories, such as Marghine and Planargia, not only for social relations, but above all for the economy. The railway line therefore has a strategic importance and a high tourist value».
