The heating and testing operations of the plants began on Saturday and tonight the first waste will be "baked". After years of waiting, of work, constant millions of euros, today becomes a historic date, for the start of the waste-to-energy plant of Tossilo which, gradually and then at full capacity, will have to burn the waste that comes from 147 municipalities of central and northern Sardinia.
The Consorzio Industriale in liquidation is the one to start the operations, through the commissioner, Mario Zacchino, then the technicians and workers of the temporary association of companies, which built the plants, with the participation of the technicians and workers of Tossilo Spa which, once fully operational, will manage the entire platform. Waste management, the fate of the Tossilo waste-to-energy plant and the development prospects of the Marghine industrial area will be the focus of an important public meeting that will be held on Friday afternoon , starting at 4:00 p.m., in the cultural services center, with the title "Tossilo: what future? Dialogue with institutions and communities".
An initiative promoted by the Nino Carrus association, in collaboration with the Union of Municipalities of Marghine and the Municipalities of Macomer and Borore. The guest is the President of the Region, Alessandra Todde. A presence that also constitutes an important political signal. Representatives of regional and local institutions will also be present, as well as technicians and operators in the sector. "Tossilo must not only be linked to waste - says the mayor of Macomer, Riccardo Uda - but there must be a comprehensive relaunch of the entire area".
In the meeting, moderated by journalist and activist Gian Luca Atzori, in addition to the state of the art of the waste-to-energy plant, we will talk about the strategic role that the plant can assume in the regional waste management system, but above all about the relaunch of the Tossilo industrial area and the future of the industrial consortium. "Transparency, responsibility and political courage are needed - says Rosanna Carboni, president of the Nino Carrus association - to ensure that waste management and the enhancement of the industrial area go in the direction of innovation and the involvement of local communities".
