Macomer has a new centenarian. Today, Pietrina Pala, who has lived in Cagliari, in the home of one of her daughters, since 2016, blew out one hundred candles.

The woman, Paolo Marongiu's widow for 23 years, celebrated this important milestone surrounded by her two daughters, Maria Antonietta and Rita, her three grandchildren and together with the mayor of Macomer, Riccardo Uda and her deputy, Maria Luisa Muzzu. An important day for the new centenarian who, together with Giuseppa Pirisinu (105 years old) and her peer Angelino Farina, form the formidable trio of Macomer's grandparents. Apart from a few ailments, Mrs. Pietrina appears in excellent condition.

Above all, she is lucid, so much so that she remembers facts from the past and tells anecdotes and stories about her Macomer. He remembers everything perfectly. In 2016 she had to make the drastic decision: to move to Cagliari, to her daughter, Maria Antonietta, so as not to remain alone in her house in via Nuoro in Macomer. But she remained tied to Macomer and remembers everyone, first of all her husband, Paolo Marongiu, her many relatives and friends. Today he was able to speak with the mayor and the vice mayor and together they celebrated this important milestone. It seems that in Macomer it is the women who live the longest.

In addition to Giuseppa Pirisinu, born in 1918 and Angelino Farina, born in 1923, three other women could reach the important milestone next year, all of whom are in good health.

“In Macomer there is the elixir of life,” the mayor says jokingly. «It seems that women in particular drink it», adds Maria Luisa Muzzu.
