A fire broke out in the historic Albano pine forest in Macomer .

The arsonists certainly wanted to destroy the ancient pine forest, one of the city's parks of excellence, of great historical, naturalistic and environmental value , frequented daily by hundreds of people.

The flames started late yesterday afternoon from the roadside, at the northern entrance to the town, between the Arst coach depot and the old Centola dairy , therefore where the state railway tracks pass.

The aim of the arsonists, most likely, was to destroy one of the places most frequented by people and where a new redevelopment will soon take place , which sees in the forefront the heir of the historic family of cheese industrialists, Francesco Albano, who it recently presented a redevelopment project for the area that remained its property, donating 33 percent of the private area to the Municipality, which will be incorporated into the public one.

The firefighters, the firefighting teams, the barriers and many volunteers immediately intervened on the spot, including several city councilors, alarmed by the mayor Riccardo Uda.

«The flames were extinguished thanks to the fire apparatus - says the mayor - the danger remains for those who want this place of great naturalistic, historical and environmental value to be destroyed. We will ensure that what happened yesterday afternoon does not happen again".
