Large fire in Carbonia, flames in via del Minatore

Large fire late afternoon in Carbonia .

The area that goes from the link road to the hospital, near the municipal Roma camp, to the strip of scrub and close to via del Minatore was affected by the fire .

The flames started from several points and fueled by the wind walked throughout the area, covering a large part of via del Minatore.

The intervention of the Carbonia firefighters was immediate, arriving with some means and assisted by the Forestry Corps and by the personnel of the Gonnesa Civil Protection.

Also on site was the aircraft of the regional fleet that took off from the Marganai base , which fortunately limited the damage thanks to the numerous launches, with the water drawn from the Monte Sirai basin, preventing the flames from reaching the area of via Castelsardo.

The risk of crossing the roadway of via del Minatore itself, where the railway line is located, was also avoided .

The carabinieri of the Carbonia station and the mobile radio and the SER Civil Protection of Carbonia also intervened.

Fire today also in Sini, Pranu Argiolas locality, tamed thanks to the intervention of the helicopter from Fenosu, and in Calangianus, Badumela locality, where an aircraft arrived from the Limbara base. Here the fire covered an area of about 4 hectares of cultivated land.
