After four months of agony in hospital, Giovanni Vitale died, the elderly man who last April 12 was pulled from the rubble following the collapse of "Casa Scalas", in Laconi, the municipal building in via Sant'Ambrogio which collapsed due to of an explosion most likely due to a gas leak.

There were two injured, one was discharged from hospital shortly afterwards, but Giovanni Vitale's health conditions remained very serious. And today the death occurred. «Our deepest condolences to the family», we read on the Facebook page of the Municipality of Laconi».

A few weeks ago, Mayor Salvatore Argiolas asked the Region for financial intervention to renovate the two completely damaged and unusable apartments.

Approximately 150 thousand euros are needed, this is the figure estimated by the technical office. The request is addressed to the president of the Region Alessandra Todde and to the regional councilor for public works Antonio Piu. To date, however, there has still been no response . «The explosion three months ago, however, made two of the five apartments unusable - wrote the mayor - The other three have structural problems, but are currently occupied by the assigned families. A dutiful evaluation of the report and the metric calculation is requested, in order to hypothesize financing to restore the situation".
