" Remembering with emotion a great sportsman, a great person like Marco made the evening much more special ." These are the words of the mayor, Fabio Lai , pronounced during the inauguration ceremony in La Maddalena of the Street Basket named after Marco Mascagni , who died prematurely, a young man from Maddalena and a great basketball fan.

Just before the ribbon cutting, Gianni Canopoli, his great friend and teammate in Efisio Corona, spoke about him. With the mayor and the delegate for Sport, Milena Orrù, "who has strongly believed in this great redevelopment from the beginning", said Fabio Lai, there were Marco Mascagni's daughters, Alessia and Valeria.

The Street Basket court is located in Moneta and is the result of the redevelopment of an area previously used as a playground - adjacent to the elementary and nursery school - but abandoned and degraded for some time.

"The more kids are on the fields and play sports, the fewer kids are on the streets," the mayor said. The field, blessed by the parish priest, Don Andrea Domanski, is characterized by a work of street art, discovered on the occasion of its inauguration, created by the Maddalena artist, Massimo Mollica.
