For years, La Maddalena has been involved by Marevivo in the national project “Guardian Dolphins”, an educational path dedicated to school pupils, which the environmental association carries out on the island in collaboration with the local Comprehensive Institute; the aim is to sensitize the youngest and transmit to them the awareness of the need to protect the marine environment and the ecosystem .
“Delfini Guardiani dell'Isola di La Maddalena” was sponsored by the Municipality, which was present the day before yesterday, on the final day, with the councilor for the environment, Federica Porcu, and the councilor for public education, Stefania Terrazzoni, together with representatives of the National Park, the Navy and the Coast Guard. And it is usual that, at the end of the course, the students receive the “Guardians of the Island” badge , which gives them the right (and duty) to present themselves, without adult companions, at their Municipality or the Port Authority to report any environmental criticalities.
On the final day of the event , the 2023 municipal ordinance was remembered and explained, which prohibits the launch of balloons into the air , inviting instead to keep them well anchored to the ground to protect marine fauna and the ecosystem. A special thanks, the environmental councilor, Federica Porcu, addressed to the general director of Marevivo, «Carmen di Penta and to the two biologists who guided the children in this beautiful experience, Elena Napolitano and Irene Galante» in addition to «congratulations to the teachers and the director of the Istituto Comprensivo La Maddalena, for having embraced this wonderful project».
