A queue of hundreds of people, queuing since last night , many of them elderly , to get a place with their GP.

This is what happened in the Padule Community House, in La Maddalena, where many people have been stationed in the square in front of the structure in order to be able, starting from 9 this morning, to fit in among the 1000 patients that the ASL Gallura assigns to the general practitioner , Dr. Laura Fastame .

At 9 this morning the presence of people waiting was so massive that, in order to guarantee public order, in addition to the security personnel, the municipal police, the carabinieri and the Barracellari company had to intervene.

What happened is that Dr. Fastame has recently become the titular doctor (before she was provisional), but the 1000 patients she was already following (of the late Dr. Enzo Leotta, provisionally transferred to Dr. Simone Plastina and then to her) have not transferred, now that she is titular, automatically to her but, with a questionable decision, they must make the choice, extended however, in addition to these 1000, also to all those in La Maddalena who, for some time, have been without a general practitioner; hence the impressive, predictable influx ("the clog") of patients, eager to be confirmed with their doctor and the consequent inconveniences, particularly for the elderly and not only.

"The situation is shameful," says Francesco Vitiello, a Maddalena native and manager of a beach resort, "but imagine if it had happened in the winter: those elderly people abandoned there, at night. It's absurd that there was no correct information about the possibility of choosing a doctor online. Nothing from the Municipality, nothing from the ASL: there are no words."

The Office of Choice and Revocation, in the Community House of Padule, is carrying out an extraordinary opening, today, Tuesday 5 November, from 9 to 13, exclusively dedicated to the registration of patients of Dr. Fastame. Alternatively, citizens can make their choice online on the regional portal http://zente.sardegnasalute.it

At the end of the day, the balance will be drawn and we will know how many patients are "left outside" without a doctor .
