The Tempio Pausania Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered a new autopsy on the body of Giuseppe Mannoni, the 28-year-old from Thiesi who died on 3 September in the intensive care unit of San Francesco in Nuoro , following a cerebral hematoma sustained after hitting his head on the ground at the height of an argument with a group of youths that occurred on 26 August in a parking lot next to a club in Baja Sardinia.
The examination will be conducted on Thursday, September 26 at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Sassari by the medical examiner Michele Usai and the neurosurgeon Giancarlo Nurchi, who will also receive the official assignment on Thursday from the prosecutor Noemi Mancini, head of the investigation. The autopsy will also be attended by the consultant Valentina Piredda, appointed by the lawyer Nicola Satta, who represents Mannoni's family.
A previous autopsy had begun on September 10 and was immediately suspended because the coroner, following the initial findings, had the need to consult with the Prosecutor's Office. A 25-year-old of German and Russian nationality, Arthur Sergeyevic Shendrik, resident in Berlin, is being investigated for the death of the young man from Thiesi, accused of manslaughter and defended by the lawyer Pierfranco Tirotto.
Also being examined by investigators is the position of the doctors at the Olbia hospital who gave the 28-year-old first aid, before he voluntarily left the facility without waiting for further diagnostic tests, as ordered by the same health workers. The young man, however, returned home to Thiesi, where he felt ill the next morning. He was taken to the hospital in Ozieri and then by helicopter to Nuoro, where he underwent surgery to reduce a cerebral hematoma. He remained in a pharmacological coma in intensive care for several days, where he died on September 3 without ever regaining consciousness.
