New alarm bells from the emergency room of the San Giuseppe Calasanzio hospital in Isili . A few days ago a nurse was left alone to manage the service: the only doctor on shift moved for a transfer and there was no medical ambulance available.

«It has reached the point - denounces the territorial secretary of Nursind Cagliari, Fabrizio Anedda - that not even the minimum expected for a simple first aid unit is guaranteed. We find ourselves an emergency room limited to only 12 daytime hours with a staff composed of only three doctors instead of the seven provided for the emergency room mentioned by Ministerial Decree 70 of 2015".

The scarcity of numbers prevents doctors from guaranteeing prompt availability for the night hours and it happens more and more often that the hours of service lengthen.

Not only that: on Saturday 31 December and throughout New Year's Day, continuity of care was not guaranteed in the municipalities of Isili, Serri, Nurallao, Escolca, Gergei and Nuragus due to the lack of emergency medical services. "The territory of Isili - adds Anedda - was practically without the possibility of having any medical assistance during the night hours, with the exception of the 118 service".

In addition to the chronic lack of personnel , the emergency room continues to work on yellow codes and red codes, although it is expected that these will reach specialized structures with adequate diagnostic-instrumental services.
