Twenty-seven violations discovered in just five days, with fines totaling around 5,000 euros: this is the balance of the checks carried out by the barrage company in the Alghero area.
The uncivilized behavior ranges from rubbish thrown out after hours to bulky waste abandoned in the waste disposal areas of Guardia Grande and Sant'Anna, to illegal landfills and the failure to separate waste collection, to which are added the violations contested by the "waste commuters" for the from other municipalities.
The types of sanctions, according to a note, relate to the abandonment of domestic waste (400 euros), the deposit of bulky items and waste on the roadway (200 euros), the use of black envelopes (170 euros), the failure to differentiate waste (200 euros) and the deposit of bulky items in the ecological islands (170 euros). To trace those responsible, the Barracellis, thanks to the operators of Ciclat and the staff of the Department of the Environment, open the abandoned bags and check their contents. Some offenders have already been identified, for others notification is on the way.
"Starting from 17 April, on the basis of the operational guidelines provided by the Environment Department of the Municipality of Alghero, we have launched an intense investigation and control activity on various sensitive areas of the Alghero territory to ascertain all those illegal behaviors relating to the disposal of domestic and non-domestic waste», comments the Commander of the Barracelli, Riccardo Paddeu, «zero tolerance towards those who do not respect the rules dictated by the Municipality of Alghero. Thanks also to the use of video surveillance systems supplied by the councillorship, the investigation and monitoring activity has undergone a strong acceleration».
