The importance of inclusive language at the center of a new seminar signed Ierfop, as part of the project "Disability, Education, Training and Integration 2024". The appointment is in Cagliari for November 14, at the headquarters of the institution in via Platone 3. The eight-hour course offers an important training opportunity on the topic, with a focus on visual impairment.
Teacher Valentina Tomirotti, journalist and activist on the rights of people with disabilities, will explain the importance of words in building a truly inclusive environment, where people are always at the center regardless of their individual characteristics. During the seminar, the rules to follow in communicating about disability will be illustrated and the stigmatizations that can arise from the incorrect use of words will be analyzed.
"When talking about disability, it is important to use the right words," says Ierfop President Roberto Pili. "Through words, ideas and projects are expressed, reality is represented and relationships are built." The free seminar, open to all, is an opportunity to learn how to use a broad and inclusive language, respectful of everyone's identity.
"The effort to standardize the language of educational and cultural activities to the new canons of inclusive language can no longer be postponed and refers to the responsibility first and foremost of associations involved in various capacities in the world of disability", concludes the director of Ierfop Bachisio Zolo.
