A long round of applause greeted Federico Chia's coffin in Serramanna as it exited the church of San Leonardo , where the funeral of the unfortunate 17-year-old who died after his scooter crashed into a wall was held.
The tragedy occurred on the night between Saturday and Sunday, throwing the entire local community into mourning . It devastated Federico's parents and brother.
" You are in every breath we take ," is the phrase that hundreds of the young man's friends had printed on their white T-shirts. And on the shoulders, the word "Chia" was written: Federico's surname, the one his friends used to call him in private.
The boys, a white army, formed an honor guard for the funeral procession, which set out from the church of San Leonardo, where the parish priest Don Giuseppe Pes celebrated the funeral homily, to the cemetery, where the young man was buried.
