"We need to change habits in separate waste collection in Sassari". With these words, Mayor Giuseppe Mascia, this morning at a press conference at Palazzo Ducale, introduced the measures that the municipal administration will launch from June 1st, and which are aimed at improving the percentage of collection, which has risen to 61.70% but is still far from the 65% requested by the Region. Just over three points less, which however entail an annual penalty for the municipal coffers of around 180,000 euros.
The new features include waste disposal, even in areas with street bins, only from 1pm to midnight, while on weekends it will not be possible to throw waste from midnight on Friday to 1pm on Sunday . "The reason," explains the Ecological Transition Councilor Pierluigi Salis, "is due to the fact that landfills are closed on Sundays. In this way, decorum and hygiene will be preserved." Cameras have been implemented - there are 70 of them - to monitor the areas where waste is disposed of and should not be or is done incorrectly. In the future, a fine of 50 euros will be applied for each violation . The plan is to expand door-to-door collection, which at the moment is held in the countryside and in some peripheral neighborhoods, but, as reported in the meeting, it is the best way to achieve an effective result.
In the meantime, we invite you to download the app, improved thanks to the contribution of Abinsula, today represented by Stefano Salaris, head of digital services, which will allow you to interface with the offices of the sector regarding reports, times, methods of delivery and everything concerning the specific topic . News on which citizens will also be informed through the communication campaign "The city we want", with testimonials Pino and the antibodies, namely Michele and Stefano Manca, present this morning.
In the meantime, the critical issue of Scala Erre must be resolved, which, as recalled by the director of the Environment sector Giovanni Pisoni, supported by the head of the Waste Management service Deborah Manca, is about to exhaust its volumes following the constraints of the Region. While waiting for the Tossilo waste-to-energy plant to restart or for decisions to be made on the issue, one wonders how action will be taken in the short term . "A decision must be made: we certainly cannot continue to dig all the way to Corsica," concludes Mascia.
