There is an alarm about false INPS messages. It is launched by Anap (National Association of Seniors and Pensioners of Confartigianato Sardegna) with an appeal to highlight how widespread the phenomenon has become, with particular attention to the relatives of fragile and at-risk people.
INPS has reported a new online fraud that uses the name of the Institute to induce victims to provide personal and banking data through fake emails that promise a refund of 715 euros . A deception that puts at risk the assets and safety of the most vulnerable citizens, especially the elderly.
The email features the official INPS logo and invites you to click on a link with the words "Continue on the dedicated page", with the excuse of having to update your data to receive the alleged bonus . In reality, by clicking, you end up on a fraudulent site that steals sensitive information. INPS, in reporting the scam, recommended users not to click on any link and especially not to provide any data. Instead, it invites you to consult the official page dedicated to the prevention of scams: "INPS - Attention to scams".
According to Giovanni Antonio Mellino, president of Anap Sardegna and national vice president, the phenomenon of scams targeting the elderly is constantly growing and requires a collective effort to stem it. "This type of scam continues to increase," he says. " You have to be very careful not to give out personal data or your bank details. We ask for everyone's help, especially family members, to inform their loved ones who live alone about these dangers . We do our part by helping members use their smartphones correctly. The elderly are particularly vulnerable to these attacks, often because they are less accustomed to using digital technologies and less aware of the dangers of phishing."
Anap Confartigianato Sardegna emphasizes the need to intensify information and training campaigns for the over 65s, so that they can recognize the danger signals and avoid falling into scammers' traps, which create not only economic but also psychological damage and further social isolation for those who are victims. "It becomes strategic to create a family and social safety net," continues Mellino. " Children, grandchildren, friends and social and health workers must be actively involved in raising awareness among the elderly about these risks . Only with a common commitment will it be possible to effectively combat these criminal acts and protect our elderly."
Anap Confartigianato Sardegna will continue to monitor and provide support to its members, inviting anyone who has received suspicious communications to report them immediately to the competent authorities .
