Quartu becomes the beating heart of international inclusive tennis, hosting the fourth edition of the “Sardinia Flamingo Open”, the Lgbtqia+ tournament organized by the Baa Bà Aps association with the patronage of the Municipality, which will take place from May 30th to June 1st.
Seven fields, 70 athletes, 20 nations: these are the numbers of an event that has now become a fixed and increasingly sought-after stop on the Glta World Tour. The matches will be played on the fields of the Sporting Club Quartu, transforming the city into a showcase of sport, friendship and inclusion.
The unmistakable symbol of the tournament is, once again, the Pink Flamingo, which will award the winners of the Singles and Doubles categories – both Amateur and Open – in a festive and participatory atmosphere.
But the Sardinia Flamingo Open is much more than a simple tournament. Part of the Lgbtqia+ tourism promotion project “Sardinia Friendly”, the event combines competition and discovery of the territory: most of the athletes will stay in Sardinia for the entire week, combining sport and vacation, between breathtaking beaches, culture and hospitality.
Sport, inclusion and valorization of the territory: «The Sardinia Flamingo Open», explain the organizers, «is a unique opportunity to tell the world about a Sardinia that knows how to be dynamic, hospitable and open to all diversities».
