A hub for mega yachts capable of intercepting the flow of elite boats from the North West, capable of developing an economic spin-off for various sectors.

The strategic location is the industrial area of Porto Torres, where the Ponamed company, a Milanese company operating in the city since 2018, intends to expand the shipyard to create a shelter center for large pleasure boats, a "Sardinian clinic" «thanks to that availability of expansion areas for refitting, workshop, maintenance and repair shipbuilding activities which all the major Italian shipyards are hungry for and cannot have at their disposal".

Thus underlines Elisabetta Carboni, CEO of Ponamed, who launches the challenge together with the Cantieri Navali del Golfo , «taking advantage of a strategic geographical location in the center of the Mediterranean and of the super-yacht routes».

The company has over 37 thousand square meters of seaside areas in Porto Torres, mostly owned and almost 14 thousand of which are covered, but with an expansion potential on almost unlimited owned land and already underway on over 80 thousand square meters. The objective is to become a point of reference in North West Sardinia for super yacht shipbuilding. The first step underway in the plan to achieve levels of excellence involves an investment in the filling and filling of a body of water directly connected to the sea and therefore in an efficient connection between industrial warehouses and the quay.

Strengthened by a growing number of large pleasure boats that now use the plant for maintenance, workshops, carpentry work and repairs, Ponamed, with the Cantieri Navali del Golfo, intends to "attack" the super yacht market, creating its own operational base in a strategic geographical location 40 miles away from the Costa Smeralda, 42 miles from Porto Vecchio, in Corsica, and central to the large centers of yacht construction (La Spezia and Livorno) or refitting and repairs of the same (Genoa), as well as to Monte Carlo (160 miles), the French Riviera and the Balearic Islands.

The expansion intervention will be possible thanks to an Invitalia loan of almost 2 million euros useful, together with own funds, to begin the renovations.

«Our objective - concludes Elisabetta Carboni - is to create a real center of excellence in a short time, what we define as "the clinic of great boating", also creating the conditions for alliances with construction sites that require space and professionalism for their boats."
