31% of overnight stays during this tourist season in Palau were in campsites; a figure that does not exceed by much but rather significantly the overnight stays in 4-star hotels equal to 27% to which is added a 2% in 5-star hotels. And overnight stays in A7 villas and above do not go beyond 2%. The numerical data detected from those provided by the Municipality regarding the Tourist Tax, provides a key to understanding the type of tourism that characterizes the Municipality of the bear. The total overnight stays was 751,875 which represents 12% more than last year. Between holiday homes, tourist rentals, guest houses, farm holidays, B&Bs, etc., the figure reaches 24/25%. 3-star hotels instead cover 13% of overnight stays.

"Campsites are the most popular," comments Luisa Pasella, delegate for tourism, commerce, marketing, entertainment, communication, of the Municipality of Palau. "What is clear is that luxury tourism has decreased, as evidenced by the decline in large villas." In any case, overnight stays in 4-star hotels have increased compared to last year from 185,723 to 199,422 and in 3-star hotels from 91,301 to 96,958, while overnight stays in holiday homes have dropped from 75,240 to 69,388. The data are therefore varied and, in some cases, may appear contradictory but which do not undermine the fact that overall the increase in overnight stays was, as already written, 12%, "with an increase in both Italian and foreign tourists", delegate Pasella had underlined during the presentation of the data in the council chamber, "but above all it is interesting the emergence of new markets, such as the Polish one, and the American one, a nationality that manages to bring greater profitability to the territory".

In the period from 1 April to 12 October 2024, total tourist flows were equal to 652,177; Of these, 30% were foreigners (+3.5%); and based on data collected by the Tourism Office, there was an increase of over 9% of Italians.
