Yesterday, in Guspini, Piazza Monumento resounded to the rhythm of "Un violador en tu Camino, el violador eres tú". The anthem, which translates as “The rapist in your path, the rapist is you,” was first sung by Chilean women in November 2019, during a national uprising against social inequality. This cry of protest against rape culture and victim stigma has been adopted globally by women's rights groups.

"You're the culprit, it's not my fault, nor where I was, nor what I was wearing." These words, full of meaning, resonated yesterday, Saturday 2 December, when the members of the cultural association Rivivisci - Polo Culturale proposed them again in the square. It was the second execution after the International Day against Violence against Women on November 25th. The objective was to denounce the recent killings of two other women, victims of men, following the tragic disappearance of Giulia Cecchettin, found dead on November 18th. Giulia had disappeared together with her ex-boyfriend, now under investigation, Filippo Turetta. «We have to make noise as Elena Cecchettin, Giulia's sister, asked. We promised that by touching one, we would move for all of them, and so it happened. We organized the event in a very short time and we will continue to be vigilant." Thus Rosa Carta, member of the association.

During the performance, drums and percussion were played, and a lot of noise was made with whistles. Some cars slowed down to listen, while many curious citizens stopped to observe. The text denounced how unfortunately institutions can support systematic violations of women's rights, and the boys continued to make noise. Loudly spelled out, the slogan "We are the authentic and ferocious cry of all those women who no longer have a voice" was also part of the evening.

Unfortunately, in recent days, two other women have unjustly lost their lives. On November 28, Meena Kumari, 66 years old, of Indian nationality, was killed with a baseball bat in the center of Salsomaggiore Terme; her husband was then arrested by the police. On the same day, Vincenza Angrisano, 42 years old, from Andria, was killed by her husband Luigi Leonetti, who then confessed to the crime at 118. But the list of women killed every year is increasingly wider, some on the feast day of woman or anywhere within the home or on the street. With pistols or rifles, stabbed, perhaps killed because they are no longer willing to tolerate a violent and possessive relationship, which has absolutely nothing of love. With the hope that the violence will subside and justice will take its course, the Rivivisci - Polo Culturale association promises to take to the streets to shout anger and indignation to denounce any other form of gender violence. For this reason, the association assures: «We will give voice to the streets with concrete interventions and requests, given the urgency that increases every day».
