The figure of Cardinal Sebastiano Baggio , archbishop of Cagliari from 23 June 1969 to 26 February 1973, will be remembered on Tuesday 21 March on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his death.

A solemn concelebration will take place in the cathedral, starting at 7 pm, presided over by Monsignor Antioco Piseddu, bishop emeritus of the diocese of Ogliastra who was secretary to Cardinal Baggio during the four years in Cagliari.

For the cardinal's funeral, Pope John Paul II had expressed words of consolation : «Cardinal Sebastiano Baggio has left us and we think of him in the light and peace of the Most High, because God's will is that none of those who they loved and served Christ all their lives. Every now and then, in the sometimes almost frenetic development of the multiple occupations that modern life and the needs of the present Church impose, Providence stops us in front of the body of one of our Brothers and makes us reflect: "We don't have a stable city down here, but we are going to look for the future one".

And he went over a few moments: "During his life, Cardinal Baggio met people from all walks of life and brought together very different cultures, he also wants to teach us kindness and understanding in relationships with others . Undoubtedly evil must be condemned and fought, and error must be identified and corrected; but the way to do it must always be delicate and respectful, in the belief that each one brings his own pain, his mystery, his anxiety in the face of death and the afterlife. Precisely the fact that every person walks inexorably towards the supreme detachment must fill the soul with attention, charity, patience, fraternity".
