The investigation into the murder of Giovanni Fresi, the 58-year-old goldsmith beaten to death by his 27-year-old son Michele, last December 27 in Arzachena, has closed .
The Tempio Prosecutor's Office has ordered immediate trial for the accused , with the first hearing in the Court of Assizes on 29 October. For the investigators, the development of the facts is sufficiently clear to require a simplification and acceleration of the procedure, skipping the preliminary hearing.
Fresi's lawyer, Pierfranco Tirotto, made no statement .
The charge includes not only the murder of the father, aggravated by the parental bond. Fresi is also accused of disfiguring his girlfriend, who was violently hit and suffered very serious fractures to her face , including to the orbital wall.
The girl, assisted by the lawyer Giampaolo Murrighile, will become a civil party in the trial.
The murder
The facts are known. The young man, with addiction problems, was having a tantrum near some bars on Viale Costa Smeralda. " I swallowed ten tablets of acid ," he shouted, "there's an invasion of aliens and we need to react, call my father, he'll bring the weapons."
Father Giovanni, alerted to what was happening, intervened. As he had done many other times, the goldsmith had managed to convince his son to follow him back home . But on the evening of December 27th he paid for yet another gesture of love with his life. Michele Fresi hit him on the head with a heavy juniper club , causing him to collapse to the ground. Then he continued to hit him until he died.
