Illness occurred aboard the Cruise Roma liner off the coast of Asinara . The emergency was triggered this morning, December 4th, at 12:00 PM when the operations room of the Porto Torres Port Authority received a report of a sea rescue operation coordinated by the Porto Torres Coast Guard. This operation allowed the safe transfer of a twenty-three-year-old Moroccan passenger, who had suffered acute epigastralgia while on board the ferry sailing from Barcelona to the port of Civitavecchia.
The situation was constantly monitored by the Coast Guard operations room, in close contact with the Grimaldi Lines unit and the operations room of the Olbia Maritime Directorate. The medical emergency was reported around noon, when the ship, which was approximately ten miles from the island of Asinara, was located. The International Radio-Medical Center (C.irm), after conducting an initial clinical assessment via radio link with the ship's doctor, ordered the passenger's immediate evacuation to the port of Porto Torres, to allow for admission to the Santissima Annunziata hospital.
The Coast Guard directed the ship to port, where an ambulance was already present, supported by a Coast Guard patrol. Rescue operations concluded around 2:00 PM, when the passenger, disembarked at the "ASI 1" dock in the industrial port of Porto Torres, was entrusted to the care of medical personnel and subsequently transported to the hospital in Sassari. Once disembarkation operations were completed, the Cruise Roma was authorized to cast off and resume navigation toward the port of Civitavecchia.
