Oristano declares a state of natural disaster due to the devastation caused on the municipal territory by the violent wave of bad weather in recent days.

The decision was taken by the council, on a proposal from mayor Massimiliano Sanna , after the first count of the damage recorded in the city on 21 and 22 November due to heavy rains, accompanied by stormy winds and storm surges.

"With the declaration of the State of natural disaster, the procedure begins to ask the Autonomous Region of Sardinia for the recognition of the disaster and the granting of economic aid for the damage suffered by public or private assets and production activities ", explains the mayor Sanna himself .

According to what was communicated by the town hall, on 21 and 22 November last the municipal area was affected by heavy rainfall, winds and storm surges which caused the fall of trees, electric poles, traffic lights and road signs, damage to cars, the uncovering of roofs and damage to kiosks and production activities, with particular reference to the village of Torre Grande .

There have been flooding of urban and rural roads, countryside and damage to public and private buildings. The Municipality offices received numerous reports from citizens who complained of damage to movable and immovable property such as to cause damage to the local economy.
