Two young residents of San Giorgio a Cremano, in the Neapolitan area , were reported on the loose by the carabinieri in Cagliari for a scam against a 75-year-old from Guspini .

The old man had come into contact with the two, aged 24 and 23, for the purchase of a particularly high-performance wood-burning stove described enthusiastically on a well-known website. The intention had been to significantly reduce heating costs for the coming winter and autumn seasons.

After a series of contacts via SMS messages, the two Neapolitans managed to get the total sum of 2,980 euros paid from the prepaid card of the complainant , with two separate transfers, to two different online accounts. But the stove never arrived in Sardinia.
