These are the data provided today in Nuoro during the ceremony for the Guardia di Finanza Festival, an occasion to celebrate the commitment of the Fiamme Gialle in the service of economic and financial legality and to take stock of the results obtained over the last year.
In his speech, the Provincial Commander, Colonel Alessandro Ferri, took stock of the activity carried out, divided into three main strategic objectives: the protection of revenue, the control of public spending and the fight against economic-financial crimes.
Revenue Protection: 18.4 million euros of undeclared income discovered
During 2024, 221 tax audits and controls were carried out, with the identification of undeclared income for a total of 18.4 million euros. Of these, 8.5 million are attributable to cases of total tax evasion, while 2.8 million concern VAT evasion. Significant numbers that confirm the constant attention of the Guardia di Finanza on the front of underground business and work.
Public spending: over 200 individuals reported for undue perceptions
On the public spending side, 329 interventions were completed, which led to the reporting of 214 subjects responsible for undue perceptions of public funds. The economic damage ascertained amounts to 2.5 million euros. Among the most recent operations, the execution, a few days ago, of a seizure of real estate assets for 130 thousand euros, carried out as part of an investigation for fraud against the State.
Countering economic and financial crimes and fighting drug trafficking
The activity to combat economic and financial crimes, including money laundering and self-laundering, was also particularly intense, involving five individuals for a total amount of 600 thousand euros. In addition, misappropriated assets of approximately 2 million euros emerged, of which 1.5 million for which seizure was requested.
Finally, on the front of the fight against drug trafficking, the Guardia di Finanza of Nuoro has completed one of the most significant operations of the year, with the seizure of 13 tons of marijuana, grown and processed illegally in the province.
Colonel Ferri underlined how “the presence of the Guardia di Finanza on the territory is a guarantee of legality and a garrison to protect a healthy economy, citizens and honest businesses”.
The ceremony took place in the presence of local civil and military authorities, with moments of recognition also for the men and women of the Corps who distinguished themselves in particularly important operations.
