A furious quarrel, the umpteenth, while they were milking the sheep on their farm in Sae Lussu . At one point Giuseppe Pittalis, 55, took a large hammer and hit his brother Giorgio, 61, on the head, killing him.

So the farmer reconstructed before the investigators the crime that shocked the community of Bitti yesterday , still dismayed by the murder that forever separated the two brothers who were together day and night, at home and in the company.

During the night, after being interrogated, Giuseppe Pittalis was transferred to the Badu 'e Carros prison in Nuoro .

The farmer without hesitation admitted his responsibilities before prosecutors Giorgio Bocciarelli and Riccardo Belfiori, assisted by defense lawyers Angelo Manconi and Potito Flagello.

The hearing for the validation of the arrest by the investigating judge of the Court of Nuoro will be held on Monday in prison. The victim's body was instead transferred to San Francesco di Nuoro for the autopsy which was entrusted to the coroner Matteo Nioi.

There's little else to add to a story whose contours are all too clear, the case is – ritual formalities aside – practically closed. The motive lies in the forced coexistence of the two brothers, whose point of balance had also been lost for some years with the death of their mother .

Everyone in the village knew of their quarrels, in some cases they even came to blows, but no one expected a tragedy of similar proportions .

«It is a story that has the contours of a difficult coexistence of which unfortunately no one until today had understood the seriousness . Bitti mourns Giorgio but he will not abandon Giuseppe in this dramatic phase of his life," said the mayor Giuseppe Ciccolini. Just to him, yesterday morning, Giuseppe Pittalis confessed to the crime , before going to the barracks.
