Culinary artist, chef of film, music and entertainment stars, hundreds of the most famous customers and the unmistakable brand of "Papa Francesco", the restaurant in the heart of Milan, a stone's throw from the Duomo and La Scala. Augusto Bonomo , the VIP chef who chose the Lombard capital from Porto Torres to make his best dishes known to everyone, passed away in silence at the age of 83 after 60 years of activity .

A long career built with passion and talent. At just 13 years old he discovered the world of the sea on board fishing boats and on gozzo boats. He was a cabin boy , but that life was destined to change.

At 16 he decided to leave and attend the hotel school in Forte dei Marmi, then the turning point in Rome : chef in the villa of the film producer Dino De Laurentis and his wife, the actress Silvana Mangano . The next leap was to work at the Santa Lucia restaurant in Milan, until he decided to open a restaurant all for himself in 1980, an old place called "Papa Francesco" which he decided to revive together with six partners. That restaurant in via Marino became a stop for well-known people: Placido Domingo, Renato Zero and many others .

Augusto Bonomo became "Dad Francesco" for everyone, but not for his beloved Porto Torres, from which he had left and where he had always returned to meet up with friends and relatives.

The Turritana community and the world of Italian catering mourn one of its most famous sons, the undisputed master of several generations of chefs.
