He traveled alone , riding his MV Agusta motorbike, along the hairpin bends in the stretch between Cala Domestica and Acquaresi , on Provincial Road 83 . Then, suddenly, the terrible crash that took the life of Franco Corda, 76 years old, a dental technician well known both in Iglesias and in Carbonia , where for years he had worked in a dental practice.
The causes of the accident are not yet known but, according to an initial reconstruction, it seems that about halfway he ended up in the opposite lane, hitting the concrete curb that delimits the road . It was around 3pm when some passing motorists discovered what had just happened, immediately taking action to call for help.
The man was transported to Brotzu by air ambulance , but shortly before 9pm the doctors had to give up.
Deep dismay among his friends , some of whom had gone to the accident site that afternoon.
