The dark evil of the forests risks becoming an environmental bomb. The phenomenon is exposing the forests of Ogliastra to a high risk of fires. The alarm was raised by Snaf-Fna, through the territorial secretary Mauro Puddu. "The continuation of the severe drought is causing a slow but inexorable death of various endemic forest species. Unfortunately - is the reflection of the Ogliastra leader of the National Autonomous Forestry Union - it is strongly exposing our forests to a very high risk of starting fires. In light of the critical conditions, environmental defense and protection remains the only way to use and support for the benefit of safeguarding in the fight against fires".

The Forestas Agency has always been at the forefront of this mission: "Forestas - Puddu declares - has always put many professionals on the field who have defended the forests from the scourge of fires. Unfortunately, the severe lack of personnel, which the Agency has been suffering from for too long, has been such that already this year even the Lanusei Territorial Service has had to suppress the forest fire service during the night hours". A handicap of which there are no previous records.

In fact, if a fire were to break out during the night, the Forestas staff would not be available. No one on duty or on call. "This is also why - continues the representative of the autonomous union - we feel worried, but we have a duty to urge the regional councilor for the Environment to necessarily activate the calls for new hires that have been stalled for too long now. The new 2024 personnel requirement plan currently provides for a regional hiring plan of 2,101 new units. The 2023 plan for Ogliastra alone provides for 111".
