The Carabinieri of Cagliari, together with colleagues from the NAS and ASL staff , carried out a raid on the restaurant-bar in the city centre where, yesterday, cases of poisoning occurred among several customers – thirteen in total – who had consumed fish.

According to the findings, the people showed symptoms attributable to the so-called "scombroid syndrome" immediately after the meal.   resulting in hospitalization in city hospitals.

The Carabinieri inspection, carried out yesterday evening, revealed the presence of a food storage area that had not been notified to the competent authorities . Four octopus portions, destined for laboratory analysis, were also seized , and the immediate precautionary suspension of the activity was ordered , pending further investigations and the requirements imposed by health inspectors.

The military also reconstructed part of the distribution chain, tracing it back to a supply center located in the industrial area of Macchiareddu . Here, they seized fish products weighing a total of 36 kilograms.

The Judicial Authority was promptly informed of the incident, and investigations are continuing to clarify the dynamics of the events and verify the entire food supply and storage chain.
