The Tempio Forestry Inspectorate's major investigation into the possible cause of the fires involves three strands of evidence . The Gallura prosecutor's office has already received initial reports from specialized Forestry Corps personnel.

The incidents at the center of the judicial police's work are those of July 13th in Monti Russu, on the Aglientu coast, of August 6th along the road connecting Luras with the Tempio-Palau state road, and of August 7th, in a locality in the Olbia countryside.

According to initial hypotheses, which still need to be verified by the Forestry Corps, the fire at the center of the major investigation started near medium- and high-voltage power poles or lines.

In the case of the Monti Russu fire , the Forestry Corps seized and subjected to initial technical inspections part of a pole located near a tourist village. Staff from the Tempio Forestry Inspectorate also carried out numerous inspections in Luras and Olbia.

The power lines are located close to provincial and state roads. Enel claims, and has always maintained, that these facilities undergo continuous maintenance and cleaning (including cutting the grass around the poles and pylons).

The investigators and magistrates working on the three lines of inquiry have not provided any details on the ongoing activities. It has not been ruled out that the alleged faults may also be due to the extremely high temperatures recorded since early July.

In Gallura, even in the recent past, several criminal proceedings have been opened against Enel executives and officials for forest fires. However, it must also be said that in numerous cases, the individuals involved have been acquitted with the broadest possible acquittal.
