Twenty-four hours have not yet passed since the dramatic fire at Colle San Michele , right in the heart of Cagliari , but the search for the cause of the fire has already started: «The municipality», explains the mayor Paolo Truzzu , «immediately made itself available to the investigating authorities providing maximum collaboration to determine the causes of the fire".
In these early hours, no possibility is excluded, with countermeasures ready: «In the unfortunate hypothesis that the arson of the fact should be ascertained» , continues the mayor, «as a Cagliari citizen and as Mayor I wish exemplary punishments for the guilty enemies of the city . I thank all the rescuers who, on a day punctuated by numerous fires, promptly intervened to safeguard the Colle di San Michele».
The arrival of the Fire Brigade, the Forestry Corps, Forestas and the volunteers of the Civil Protection prevented the arrival of the flames at the castle: «From the first inspection», added the deputy mayor and councilor of the Public Greens Giorgio Angius, «the fire affected the Mediterranean maquis of the historic pine forest in the south-west area of the park. The fire did not affect the castle of the same name . I thank the regional councilor for the Environment Marco Porcu for the immediate presence on the spot and the collaboration of the Region. The Park will remain closed in the next few days to ensure the restoration of safety conditions ».
