The Court of Cassation closed the case of Speranza Ponti, 49, killed in Alghero on December 5, 2019 and found on the outskirts of the Catalan city at the end of January 2020. The life sentence for Massimiliano Farci was confirmed, the Supreme Court rejected the defense's appeal. The Attorney General's Office had requested confirmation of the sentence for Massimiliano Farci, 56, from Assemini, who had been sentenced to life in prison (plus 18 months of daytime isolation) by the Court of Assizes of Appeal of Sassari last February.

The Attorney General's Office aligned itself with the conclusions of the deputy prosecutor of Sassari, Angelo Beccu. Defense Daniele Solinas, civil parties, Edoardo Morette and Francesco Carboni. Farci already had a life sentence for the murder of Roberto Baldussi (1999) .
