The blessing of the horses, the traditional costume and the lateen sailing boats at anchor in the wonderful bay of Balai. An evocative "picture" that frames the religious event in honor of the Turritani Martyrs in Porto Torres. The event began in the small church of Balai far , where the faithful were able to attend the mass celebrated by Monsignor Salvatore Masia.

The parish priest of the basilica of San Gavino commemorated the martyrdom of saints Gavino, Proto and Gianuario, patron saints of the city. From the small church of Balai in the distance, a procession formed, preceded by knights on horseback and the folk group Etnos Li Bainzini, all wearing traditional costume, a long procession that covered the stretch of the coastal road before stopping on the beach of Balai. A ceremony of great emotional impact for the faithful and participants who flocked to the beach to witness the event and not to forget a tradition that has been repeated for many years as a wish for a good wheat harvest.

The most exciting moment was on the beach, in which the Councilor for Culture, Maria Bastiana Cocco, also participated. In the slightly rough sea, six armed boats with lateen sails formed the backdrop. The soldier Gavino was beheaded on 25 October 303 ca. at the time of Diocletian's persecution; the priest Proto and the deacon Gianuario had the same fate on October 27, two days later.
