Fatal accident in Tempio, inspections today on the Baldu-L'Agnata road: rusty metal pipes replace the guardrail.

The Tempio prosecutor's office has an investigation has been opened to ascertain the causes and responsibilities for the accident that cost the life of 25-year-old Omar Masia , the electrician from Calangianus who died after the car he was travelling in with four other friends fell from the Baldu bridge.

And today the Carabinieri will focus their checks on the road barriers, which many have already criticized as insufficient and very fragile.

At the site where the car skidded and plunged from the bridge , there were no guardrails, only metal pipes attached to the low retaining wall . These pipes, moreover, were rusty and fragile, and therefore unlikely to withstand the impact of a vehicle . Yet the road connecting Tempio to the countryside dotted with farmhouses up to L'Agnata, although rarely used by locals, is a frequent route for tourists intent on reaching the famous home of Fabrizio De André.

The Carabinieri have already contacted the municipality of Tempio regarding the safety and poor maintenance of the road . According to the municipality, the Baldu-L'Agnata is actually a rural access road , which is, however, listed as municipal property .

In the meantime, the car was recovered and seized by the Tempio prosecutor's office, with the driver testing positive to the alcohol test.   albeit with an index slightly above the tolerated threshold. The charge is vehicular homicide.

The five teenagers were returning from a graduation party. The prosecutor ordered an autopsy on the victim's body .
