Mourning in the world of medicine for the death of Virgilio Costanzo, medical colonel of the military corps of the Italian Red Cross originally from Rome who, for almost 10 years, served in Porto Torres as director for Northern Sardinia of Usma, the Maritime, air and border health unit, as an employee of the Ministry of Health. An activity he carried out with the rank of lieutenant in the 1990s, leaving traces of his work and the loving memory of many Turritans who knew him.

He died at the age of 69 in Formia, the city where he continued his work in the Italian Red Cross, after having held the role of medical director. For years he lived in Gaeta, in the province of Latina, considered his homeland, a place to which he was very attached. «We have the memory of him as a person who knew how to make himself loved - recalls Gian Paolo Delogu, head of the Cisom group -, a cultured and prepared man, particularly kind and with whom I had the pleasure of working in Porto Torres when the Cisom, Corps Italian rescue service of the Order of Malta carried out tasks and activities on behalf of Maritime Health. An honor for me to have known him."

The funeral will take place in Formia, tomorrow 4 March at 4pm, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary church.
