The funeral of Danilo Sulas, the 20-year-old boy who yesterday morning was found dead at the bottom of a well in San Teodoro, took place this afternoon. In the center of Gallura, listed in public mourning proclaimed yesterday evening by the mayor, Rita Deretta, there is talk of only him, his good heart and his extraordinary propensity for altruism.

Friends, who yesterday waited until the last moment for the body to be unearthed , describe him as a very outgoing boy, passionate about motorcycles and a lover of the sea. In fact, Danilo was on the family land where there is the winter storage of the dinghies that he rented to tourists in the summer, in his father's business, on the nearby beach of Cala Suaraccia, in Coda Cavallo. He wanted to get the boat ready to go fishing but things didn't go as he planned.

In an attempt to save his little dog, who had accidentally fallen into the cavity inside the property, in Località Lutturai, the young man fell into the water, never being able to get back up. At the bottom of the well, dredged by the Nuoro Fire Brigade to facilitate its recovery, the hunts of the dog and a cat that the animal was probably chasing were found. At the bottom there was also a ladder with which Danilo may have attempted to descend to rescue the animal, but too short to allow him to climb back up.

Yesterday the whole town rallied around the family of the boy, well known and well liked by all. Already yesterday morning, immediately after the alarm raised by his father Domenico, it was he who glimpsed his son's body at the bottom of the well, many people, family members, friends and acquaintances of Danilo gathered in the small hamlet of Lutturai.

He died a few hundred meters from his home, where he lived with his parents and 12-year-old brother. He had grown up on that land, it was his second home and he often entertained himself there to go out in the countryside with his hunting dogs or to meet up with friends for an outdoor barbecue. The funeral took place this afternoon in San Teodoro at the Church of Santa Teresa di Calcutta starting from her home in Lutturai.
