Rosanna Serra and Genci Nikaj were acquitted by the Nuoro single judge. The two - director and social health worker of the nursing home in via Aosta - were accused of aggravated mistreatment of the elderly guests.

Serra had been arrested in May 2016 together with two other health and social workers, already sentenced to 3 years and 4 months and 4 years. Prosecutor Giorgio Bocciarelli had asked for 2 years and 6 months for the director and one year and 4 months for Nikaj. According to the indictment, the woman was guilty of having done nothing to prevent the mistreatment, Nikaj of having beaten a guest. Defense lawyers Francesco Lai and Anna Maria Musio claimed the unreliability of the statements made in the courtroom by some social and health workers and the lack of clarity of the images.
