Ministerial delegations from G7 member countries (Italy, France, Germany, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, Japan and the European Union) and representatives of scientific institutions and large international research infrastructures are arriving in Sardinia to visit the Sos Enattos site in Lula, a candidate to host the Einstein Telescope .

The visit will take place within the event “ G7 Conference on Large Research Infrastructures. Synergies and impact on science and society” , scheduled until October 30th at Su Gologone, in Oliena, co-organized by the Ministry for University and Research (MUR) and the National Institute for Nuclear Physics (INFN).

The occasion for international delegations to inspect both the underground infrastructure inside the former mine and the SAR-GRAV laboratory on the surface.

A few days after the event, the Einstein Telescope project was also the subject of one of the latest resolutions adopted by the regional council.

The measure – proposed by the governor Alessandra Todde, in agreement with the councillor for programming, Giuseppe Meloni, concerns a guideline act for the signing of an agreement between the Sardinia Region and the institutional and territorial partners «for the creation of a multi-level governance for the support and promotion of the candidacy of Sos Enattos to host the Einstein Telescope».

"From 28 to 30 October - explained President Todde - we will host the G7 Science and Technology Conference in Su Gologone, in the Nuoro area. An opportunity for international discussion that will focus on the impact of research infrastructures. It is no coincidence that this topic is being discussed in Sardinia and, in particular, in this area. It is a sign of growing attention towards the candidacy of the Sos Enattos site to host the Einstein Telescope . As the Sardinia Region, Todde specified, we are at the forefront of this sector, we have already allocated funds to co-finance the construction of a new research center in place of the former RIMISA warehouse, also in Sos Enattos. And just today - commented Todde - we have brought an organizational resolution to the council that strengthens the work we are doing".

"We will have - continues the governor - a dedicated team (Project Unit) that will follow the authorization process, an inter-departmental control room that will involve local authorities and production entities to define the territorial development plan, we will set up a promotional committee for Sardinia with universities and research institutions and, finally, we are committed to signing a program agreement with the municipalities of the Project Area, the capital cities, the unions of municipalities and the mountain communities impacted by the work".

"The whole of Sardinia - concludes Todde - is a candidate to host the Einstein Telescope and we want to do it with constant involvement of local communities, not only for the construction of the work itself but also for all the activities that concern territorial development such as: roads, school and health facilities, establishment of international schools, training of workers, targeted policies for production settlements, plan for hospitality ".
